Summer is here and “reading over the summer” is proven to help students sustain learning that occurred the previous school year. To help encourage our students to read, we are encouraging our students to participate in Scholastic’s Summer Reading Challenge. Students leaving 4th, 5th and 6th grades were given log-in information. After the initial log-in, students are asked to personalize their password before logging out and if passwords are needed, they can be accessed using the password retrieval system.
Students were also given Bingo pages that can be completed over the summer and turned in during the Fall Book Fair. Four names will be drawn to each receive $25.00 in books. Students going to York may turn their completed Bingo pages into the York Library by Wednesday, September 20th, to be included in the drawing at Tom Cox. If a new York student’s name is drawn, $25.00 worth of books will be pulled and delivered to the library at York for the student.
All students: Please make sure to write your first and last name on the Bingo page. Books listed in each box must be read during the summer reading time and must be printed in the chosen boxes and fit the description given.
If assistance is needed, you may email email@example.com. Please bear in mind summer hours, but email will be checked periodically throughout the summer.
We will open at 8AM on September 18th and close at noon on Friday, September 22nd.
Hours of operation will be regular school hours plus one evening for our Read For A Better Life event, Wednesday the 20th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Hope to see you soon.
Preschool children are invited to come visit with Mother Goose and hear some favorite rhymes, sing some songs, make a craft and enjoy a snack.
Times: 10AM & 2PM
We are excited to begin our year of book clubs. Book club is a great way to read some wonderful books and to make some new friends.
We will have an initial selection meeting on September 26th at 8 AM in the library. On this day we will preview a collection of book club titles and form our groups based on interest.
As books are completed, members will determine the book and the pace at which they wish to read.
Groups will meet each Tuesday throughout the year.
All Staff Members Are invited to join us in the library as we form a new book club just for staff.
Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 26 immediately following last call for buses.
During our first meeting we will select a book and sort out the details; how fast, where, who brings snacks, etc.:)
